A brief history of wedding entertainer & pianist Olly J Wedgwood 
and his Jazz Soul Boogie Band

The concept of the Jazz Soul Boogie Band is based around the piano and vocals of Olly J Wedgwood and has been refining itself since 2004 into one of the finest professional wedding entertainment function bands in the UK. 

Olly has been gigging at wedding and parties, and leading bands for over twenty years, starting early on by founding the 'Big Jazz and Blues Band' during his sixth form at Hampton School. At Cambridge University, he then founded, conducted, arranged music for and managed Selwyn Jazz, an 18-piece swing band as well as The Lovehandles - a high energy rhythm & blues 9-piece function band playing fantastic covers to the bopping student masses!

After University, Olly worked as an engineer and physics teacher by day and gigged by night with various jazz and soul ensembles, both as a wedding pianist-vocalist and as a 'front man' wedding entertainer. In 2004, Olly handed in his notice and went pro, playing frequently with the Oxford Jazz Quintet (one of Jamie Cullum's previous groups before he rocketed to stardom), as well as hiring out his own jazz and funky bands.

Olly has now combined the talent of the many professional players he has worked with on the gig circuit with his own repertoire and arrangements resulting in the formation of the professional and thoroughly versatile Jazz Soul Boogie Band. The function band comes in a variety of flavours ranging from solo Olly J Wedgwood (great for a classy background vibe) all the way to the 6-piece Boogie 'big-sound-can't-stay-off-the-dance-floor' line up performing mainstream jazz swing, Latin, soul and funky disco classics.

The diverse styles of the Jazz Soul Boogie Band reflect Olly's love of playing a broad range of music from swing to well known pop songs.
