Choosing Live Music for a Wedding Drinks Reception

Make your wedding drinks reception sparkle with a live Jazz Duo or Trio

A popular choice with our Jazz Soul Boogie Band clients - in addition to a main band for dancing later on - is to have live music during your wedding drinks reception or wedding breakfast. Live music can really set the tone for the occasion and help to make it more special and memorable.

Very often, Olly Wedgwood plays background jazz and popular numbers for the earlier part of wedding receptions, either as a solo wedding pianist/vocalist, or as a duo with a saxophone or upright bass (a classy 'jazz' visual!). It's completely up to you if you would prefer completely instrumental music, or whether you'd like a few unobtrusive vocal numbers sung by Olly for a bit of variety and fun.

The trio format is also a popular choice for wedding drinks receptions - either piano/sax/upright bass, or piano/sax/drums (usually played with brushes so as to keep volume levels background). If your preference is for a trumpet instead of saxophone, no problem! 

As with all Jazz Soul Boogie Band ensemble combinations, access to an electrical power source is required - we do bring extension leads (up to 10m) with us, so a power socket in the near vicinity would be fine. 

For outdoor events, please bear in mind that even if the weather is gorgeously sunny, the musicians will still require suitable weatherproof covering - to protect electrics in case of a sudden shower, and also their instruments and heads from the sun (especially Olly's head - even with his hat!)
